Design Process with Paper and Craft Sticks

Problem solving and continuing to try again are important lessons to learn about the design process.  The Kindergartens worked with the materials of twenty craft sticks, paper, tape, glue, markers, and watercolour paints to begin.  As the process continued requests for pipe cleaners and string entered into the design plan.  Everything from sailboats, doll beds, ice-cream cones and hockey sticks are being developed.

We are learning about Canadian Coins in Mathematics. Students are applying what they are learning through dramatic play.  We are preparing a group project where the students will "sell" a special treat to their reading and technology buddies and the Kindergartens will have to recognize the proper play coins to accept.
