Learning to Read in Kindergarten

Learning to read is what many children say is what they are very excited to do when entering Kindergarten.  First however, the student needs to recognize the letters of the alphabet individually. Learning the sounds of each letter and letter combinations is important too.  Through songs, games,
storytelling and sight words we continue to build our tool box for reading.  Kindergarten children still love to be read too and they listen intently.  Sight word books are sent home weekly to enhance the child’s confidence and excitement for learning to read.  February is “I Love to Read Month” and in-class we Will listen and read 100 books.  Challenge your family to make an at home reading goal. Enjoy this reading time together and have fun.
